Spicy Sweet Potato Masala

This was one of those recipes that I was pleasantly surprised with. I didn’t expect the flavour’s to go so well together but it came out beautifully. I love trying out things with sweet potato and was glad when this came out successful.   • Prep time – 20 minutes
  • Cook time – 10 minutes

  • Sweet potatoes (boil and then mash) – 4 (Medium Sized)
  • Large Red Onion (chopped) – 1
  • Mustard Seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 10
  • Chilli powder – 2 tbsp
  • Water – 1/4 cup
  • Asafoetida powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp


  1. Heat oil. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves and asafoetida
  2. Add the onions and fry till brown
  3. Add the sweet potato mash and mix well into the onions
  4. Add salt and chilli powder
  5. Add the water (if required) and saute the sweet potato for another 5 minutes
