People love tacos for good reason! It can feed a large family, tastes amazing, and is incredibly simple to put together. Every time I make tacos at home, we eat so many in one sitting cause it is so hard to stop. Here is a smacktastic taco, so good you are going to be smacking your lips happily. The best part of this dish is the cilantro dressing….it is truly incredible! Hope you enjoy it 🙂
Time:
- Prep time – 15 minutes
- Cook time – 15 minutes
Ingredients for Meat and Assembling:
- White corn tortillas – the small ones 🙂
- Spring mix (a.k.a salad leafs) – 1 bag
- Beef Shoulder (Cut for tacos meaning small beef chunks) – 650 g
- I get this from the Spanish Store in the packaged meat section
- ALTERNATIVELY, get ground beef!
- Red Onion (Finely Chopped) – 1 cup
- Garlic (Minced) – 3/4 tsp
- Garlic Powder – 1.5 tsp
- Cayenne Pepper – 1/4 tsp
- Salt – 1/2 tsp
- Olive Oil – 2 tsp
- Cilantro (Roughly Chopped) – 1 cup
Ingredients for Taco Dressing:
- Cilantro (Finely Chopped) – 1.5 cups
- Lime Juice from 2 limes
- Sour cream – 1/2 cup
- Olive Oil – 1/3 cup
- Garlic (Minced) – 4 tsp
- White Sugar – 4 tsp
- Distilled White Vinegar – 1/4 cup
- Low-Fat Milk – 1/4 cup
Method:
- Mix the taco dressing ingredients in a bowl and set aside
- Heat oil in a deep dish pot
- Add the onions and garlic. Saute for 8 minutes
- Add the beef shoulder mini pieces. Saute till all the beef redness has gone
- Add the garlic powder, cayenne pepper and salt. Mix for 5 minutes
- Put the cooked beef in a serving bowl
- Assembling the taco:
- Take a serving plate and place a tortilla on it
- Place some salad leafs (spring mix) on it
- Take a tbsp of the cooked beef and place above the salad leafs
- Take 2 tbsp of the taco dressing and pour over the beef
- Garnish with some coriander.
