Recently, I was told that it is not only a common snack in Kerala but also a favorite in the Caribbean islands especially Jamaica and Cuba. The tropical weather in these regions allows the abundant growth of banana trees and hence bananas are an integral part of the cooking. Payam puri is a snack that I have enjoyed for years, it tastes best when the banana is very ripe and soft 🙂
