Grilled Corn Tikki

Enjoyed for breakfast or as an evening snack, corn cutlets are a favorite dish in India, especially during the monsoon season. This recipe does not have flour which makes it much healthier and nutritious. Crunchy on the outside, sweet and spicy on the inside it is a perfect match with tea 🙂

Time: 

  • Prep time – 15 minutes
  • Cook time – 10 minutes

Ingredients: 

  • Sweet Corn (Steamed or boiled) – 1 cup
  • Potato (Boiled and Mashed) – 1 cup
  • Bread Crumbs – 1/4 cup
  • Indian Green Chilli (Chopped) – 1
  • Red Onion (Chopped) – 1
  • Ginger (Chopped) – 1-inch piece
  • Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Garam Masala – a pinch
  • Aamchur Powder – a pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves (chopped) – 1 tbsp

Method: 

  1. Coarsely mash the corn kernels. Then add the mashed potato, chilli powder, garam masala, aamchur powder, coriander leaves and salt
  2. In little oil fry the  chopped onions, ginger, and green chilli till the onions turn brown
  3. Add the fried onion mixture to the corn potato mixture and mix it all together. Check if salt added is okay
  4. Make little balls with the combined mixture and flatten into cutlet shapes
  5. Roll this in the bread crumbs and place on a hot grill with little oil. Fry both sides and serve
  6. Enjoy with pudina chutney 🙂
