This is for all the paneer lovers out there! Arguably one of the most popular dishes in Indian cuisine. The dish is a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. It is ideal for parties, as it is both simple and delicious. Try this with chappatis or rice 🙂
Time:
- Prep time – 15 minutes
- Cook time – 30 minutes
Ingredients:
- Paneer (Cut into small cubes) – 350 g
- Large red onion (chopped) – 1
- Roma Tomato (chopped) – 1
- Ginger garlic paste – 2 tsp
- Olive oil – 1 tbsp
- Unsalted butter – 2 tbsp
- Small Indian Green Chilli (chopped) – 2
- Cumin powder – 1 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Cayenne powder – 1 tsp
- Garam masala – 1 tsp
- Methi leaves (dry) – 1 tsp
- Nutmeg powder – 1/8 tsp
- Tomato paste – 2 tbsp (I like to add more as I love the flavor)
- Heavy cream – 1/2 cup (OPTIONAL)
- Cashews – 10
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Coriander for garnish
Method:
- Marinate the paneer with (Salt – 1/8 tsp, Yogurt – 1 tsp, Turmeric Powder – 1/8 tsp, and Garam masala – 1/8 tsp). Set aside for 15 minutes
- In a large wok, saute the paneer for 5 minutes in 1 tsp olive oil and set aside
- In a deep dish pan, add the olive oil and unsalted butter. Heat this, then add the onions, tomatoes, green chilli and ginger garlic paste. Saute until brown
- Add the masalas and saute
- Add tomato paste and mix well into the rest. I add extra tomato paste as I enjoy this flavor
- Add the heavy cream, cashews, and methi leaves. Mix well until well combined. Reduce heat
- Take the whole gravy and put into a blender. Blend until it is a smooth paste
- Take a serving dish, pour in the blended gravy. Add the paneer. Mix the paneer into the gravy
- Garnish with coriander and enjoy 🙂
