The Classic Indian Chicken Curry was the first non-vegetarian dish I had prepared, and I was not disappointed. It was simple, quick and an excellent way to begin my culinary journey. This dish can be enjoyed with so many others making it versatile. May it find a place on your dining table 🙂
Time:
- Prep time – 15 minutes
- Marination time – 30 minutes
- Cook time – 25 minutes
Ingredients for marinating chicken:
- Chicken (Boneless or with Bone – cut into medium size pieces) – 1/2 kg
- Kashmiri Chilly powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
- Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
- Ginger garlic paste – 2 tsp
- Salt – 1 tsp
Marinate the chicken with the above ingredients and set aside for 30 minutes
Ingredients for chicken curry:
- Large Red Onion (chopped) – 1
- Tomato (chopped) – 1
- Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves – 1 sprig
- Water – 1 cup
Method:
- Ensure that your chicken is marinated and set aside
- In hot oil, add fennel seeds and let it sputter
- Add onions and tomatoes. Saute for 15 minutes.
- Add curry leaves and saute for another minute
- Add the chicken and saute over high heat for 5 minutes until it is well combined with the other ingredients
- Add the water, stir well and let it cook on high flame for 5 minutes. Then, cover and cook over medium-low heat for 15 minutes
- Garnish with coriander and enjoy 🙂
