Time:
- Prep time – 10 minutes
- Cook time – 10 minutes
Ingredients:
- Broccoli Florets – 4 cups
- Canola Oil – 1 tbsp
- Shaoxing Wine – 1 tbsp
- Garlic – 2 tsp
- Chicken Broth – 1/2 cup
- Cornstarch – 1 tbsp
- Mix the cornstarch with 1 tbsp water until well combined
- Sesame oil – 1/2 tsp
- White pepper – 1/8 tsp
- Water – 6 cups
- Salt – to taste (I added 1/2 tsp)
Method:
- Heat the water in a large pot and bring to a boil. Add the broccoli and let it cook for a minute, then drain and let the broccoli rest in cold water
- Heat a wok on high heat. Add the garlic, broccoli, and Shaoxing wine. Mix for a minute
- Add the chicken broth. Let the mixture come to a boil
- Add the white pepper, salt and sesame oil. Mix it for a few seconds
- Add half of the well-mixed cornstarch slurry (the cornstarch needs to be well combined with the water at this stage). Mix quickly so that the sauce thickens. If the sauce is not thick enough add more of the cornstarch slurry
- Serve hot 🙂
